Toasts with Tears – Griffiths’ Rehearsal Dinner – 05.17.13

When I met Suzanne (mother of the groom) and Coleen (mother of the bride) at a Boettcher Mansion vendor preview event, I immediately knew I wanted to work with this pair as much as possible and we started with a one-of-a-kind rehearsal dinner hosted by Suzanne and her husband, Peter.

Suzanne trusted Ansley Event Design to plan and coordinate the event and we were so happy to help. We started with design concepts for the invitations and once our client chose the lace theme, we ran with it. We incorporated lace into the decor for the cocktail and dinner tables, along with burlap, old trunks/suitcases, lanterns, candles and beautiful flowers from Newberry Brothers. It was the perfect mix of vintage and class for the natural decorations the venue already provides.

The event took place at Boettcher Mansion, starting with a cocktail hour on the back patio where guests enjoyed perfect weather, an open bar and a solo pianist. Once all the guests arrived, several from overseas and out-of-state, they moved to the Fireside Room where they enjoyed various food stations by Occasions Catering, followed by a dessert and coffee station.

Once the champagne was poured, the toasts began and Peter brought tears to the groom’s eyes with his touching words. Peter completed his toast and Suzanne took the microphone and went around the room asking guests to introduce themselves, which actually was really entertaining and fun! Suzanne finished up and everyone enjoyed a slideshow put together by the groom’s siblings, followed by a big thank you from Christopher (the groom) and Shannon (the bride) with gifts for their parents and wedding party.

Surrounded by family and friends, many said they’ve never seen Suzanne happier. And, with that, we began our adventure of 3 events in 2 weeks.

A big thanks to Ali and Garrett Wedding Photographers for capturing the evening so well! Click here to see more pictures of the evening.

We scattered white, vintage chairs from Chairished Vintage Rentals across
the back patio.

Peter & Suzanne (parents of the groom), along with Shannon & Christopher (bride & groom), posed for a picture during cocktail hour.

Once all the guests arrived, they re-located to The Fireside Room.

I do love how the decorations came together for the event!
