Megan graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the party I helped plan and coordinate was the 3rd event I worked with the family on in 2 weeks. When I sat down with Megan and her mother, Suzanne, they talked about how important it was that everyone had a great time at the party and that it was different than her brother’s wedding that would take place the weekend before, as many of the same guests would be attending both. After talking colors, timelines and themes, I quickly got to work.
I wanted to make the decorations festive and fun with lots and lots of flowers, as I knew both Megan and Suzanne love them. We ordered big, red balloons from Party America, filled mason jars with votive candles and Newberry Brothers created beautiful, red flower arrangements.
As guests arrived at the Cherry Hills Village home of Peter (father of the graduate) and Suzanne, they were guided to the backyard where cocktail tables were scattered around, Occasions Catering was serving hors ‘doeuvres and everyone was enjoying an open bar. A Music Plus provided the background music to set the mood and Megan greeted her guests with a huge smile and tons of hugs.
Once everyone arrived, guests were seated for a buffet dinner and Megan quietly passed out thank you letters to those who helped her through her life and student career. As they finished up their meals, champagne was poured in preparation for the toasts.
Peter started with a touching toast about Megan’s life and how she got to where she is today, followed by Suzanne who looked forward to the adventures to come, but was sad to see her daughter go. (The event was not only to celebrate Megan’s graduation, but became a going away party as Megan had recently become accepted into the residency program at Children’s Hospital in Connecticut.) Megan finished up the toasts by thanking her parents, who left South Africa years ago to create a better life for their children.
Following dinner, we cut into the fabulous cake by Das Meyer and Occasions served apple and pecan pie in iron skillets. Once they had a taste of the wonderful desserts, guests made their way to the sun room to dance the rest of the evening away.
Congratulations Megan on an amazing achievement! And good luck on the adventures that await you.

Newberry Brothers did an amazing job with the all-red flower arrangements.
The party started with cocktail hour in Suzanne & Peter’s backyard.
All My Sons moved the furniture from the living room, sitting room and sun room to the basement so we’d have room for this fabulous party.
During dinner, Megan quietly passed out thank you cards.

Words from our client : “Sarah was so thoughtful & easy to work with. She listened to what I wanted & then showed me how to achieve that. Everything was so easy & organized. I never had to stress about any of it & it was so incredibly beautiful. I have friends wanting to copy my graduation party for their weddings.” ~Megan (The Graduate)
